Welcome to the fourteenth installment of the EVE Blog Banter, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed to crazykinux@gmail.com. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!
The first banter of 2010 comes to us from the EVE Blog Father, CrazyKinux himself, who asks the following: As we begin another year in New Eden, ask yourselves “What Now?” What will I attempt next? What haven’t I done so far in EVE? Was it out fear, funds, or knowledge? Have I always wanted to start my own corporation, but have never dared doing so? Is there a fledging mercenary waiting to come out of its shell? Or maybe an Industrialist? What steps and objectives will I set myself to accomplish in order to reach my ultimate goal for this year? EVE is what you make of it. So, what is it going to be for you?
Going to keep this one short. I’m going to be moving towards a few things. First, I am going to begin moving towards capital ships. Not sure how long this will take, because I want to focus on my fitting and module skills first. With the first of these being T2 Energy weapons and Battleship 5. My second goal is to become somewhat proficient in making ISK outside of missions/ratting. And to be totally honest, it’s something that continues to escape me. I’ve been playing Eve for almost a year now, and I still have no idea how to make the large chunks of cash others do without the use of a second or third character. (I’m one character all the way.) So my goal is to take the time to actually learn trading, research, whatever it takes to keep the money flowing in so I can keep buying shiny ships and then losing them. (Suggestions, pointers to tutorials welcome. And no.. I will not send you a sum of money in the hopes that you will send twice as much back.)
I know I said I was going to be gone until March, but who can resist a blog banter?

Plexes–especially escalations–in low or null sec can drop mods worth a billion or more. Definitely worth checking out but I would imagine they are tough to solo, so you’d need a few friends. We did several low sec ones with a highly skilled speed tanker in a Rifter and that worked great.

I have been running PLEXes and anomalies in nullsec, but I must have the absolute worst luck. I’ve never had an officer spawn, escalation, or anything drop.

The best profits can be made in less competitive places. Caldari space say around Jita is not a good place to make money – prices tend to be the most cuthroat etc.
Location, location, location….
